stockholm is much more spread out than Oslo although the ‘important’ stuff is all in the center. Nevertheless it’s too much walking for me. in Oslo you can walk across the whole city in less than 40 minutes. in my opinion, it seems like since stockholm is more populated, those that live in stockholm live a little bit faster pace of life and they value their time a lot more. so the people in Malmö, Gothenburg, and Oslo seemed friendly to me. all in all though, there are friendly / stern people everywhere, just the size of the city seems directly correlated to people’s patience. someone correct me if i’m wrong.
so i left my debit card at this club last night (i always tell myself i will remember my card before i leave, and that never happens!) that stole a bunch of my money when i played black Jack. (i assure you that is NOT my game!) apparently Tiesto spins here and some dark skinned swedish soap Opera winning star was here on this off night.
i went there and the first 2 doors were locked. i go around the stockholm’s Opera building some more and i find 3 swedes on a smoke break and i state “Hey, i’m from California and i lost my debit card at the night club last night… is there any way we can grab that?” One of them was the head chef! He introduced me to the event staff inside, she said all the club staff have Mondays off but she will make calls and told me to call her cell phone in an hour. Luckily i had some Danish currency that i exchanged and was able to grab some food. Went to a coffee shop for some internet, asked the barista to call her and lo and behold 2 cold hours later i got my card back!

this video, below, might help put you into the feeling of backpacking through scandinavia with snow, not your typical ‘vacation’, i know, but i’ve had enough arguments about it… i’m from ‘the OC’ where we don’t need to listen to the weatherman. i wake up everyday thinking, “there’s a 95% chance that today will be hot and sunny.” Laguna beach, Huntington beach, and Newport beach are 4 good songs away. Why not experience something you’re not used to?
