just thinking in the flight cabin before landing in New Jersey

i’ve said it to enough people over the past week or so.  i’m definitely in a mid-20’s life crisis. (it’s definitely a thing)  this feeling i’m having mid flight on the way to my stop-over in New Jersey is one of acceptance.

sometimes our mind has a series of thoughts that takes a while for it to fully understand what the heck is going on, “these thoughts are highly unusual…”  so sometimes the most ordinary moments like sitting in an airplane cabin might at first seem quite ordinary.  but after talking to the gentleman steve next to me for 30 minutes about his reasons for travel, his current interest in Jack Reacher, or why he knew his wife was the ‘one’, and what love is to him… plus listening to songs like “Wake me up” by avicii, such ordinary moments become not so ordinary.

shortly thereafter, i was able to write down my goals, restate my purpose in life, and define more of what i’m looking for.

i used to clown on stories like “Eat, pray, Love”- getting paid a bunch of money to go “find yourself” and write a book to make more money! plus for the longest time i’ve been against traveling by oneself. but a small aha moment has arisen.  sometimes you just need to get away from all your domestic influences to really understand what’s going on in your mind.  Maybe we don’t have to see some people again in our travels.  but hey why not connect with everyone along the way.  this is definitely one of those times where one can learn how to enjoy the ‘journey’.

i must admit too, it’s a lot easier to be friendly when you’ve got nothing but yourself!

i don’t foresee any meditating on this trip but rather a collection of experiences on which to learn from and have fun while doing it!!

ps Oh and by the way i struck a conversation for a few minutes with Chris, the flight attendant, while in line for the lavatory… and he makes $90k annually to “sit here” after being with the company for 10 years!!!! wtf?!?

Oh and i haven’t seen New York in over 20 years… Hello New World trade center! (tall shiny thing)
